CONNECTING ALTERNATIVE SUBCULTURES
A welcoming social network for geeks, nerds and those who identify with the rock and metal/alternative subculture, composed of special interest groups called Conclaves, with various events and regular social gatherings in Bristol, UK.
Noun: 1) A private or secret meeting.
2) An assembly or gathering, especially one that has special authority, power, or influence: a conclave of political leaders.
Etymology: Late Middle English (denoting a private room): via French from Latin conclave ‘lockable room’, from con- ‘with’ + clavis ‘key’.
The Conclave Network is a community hub gathering like-minded people within a few different but related sub-cultures. We currently have four Conclaves:
Each Conclave has an engaged online community on Facebook for people to chat and stay in touch during the month between our large social gatherings called the Convocations.
On the fourth Sunday evening of the month, we have a laid back social gathering and maybe a few drinks at the Hatchet's upstairs barroom which we have reserved just for us. This is an opportunity to meet the community, get to know like-minded folk and to top it off it is all free.
Noun: 1) An assembly of persons called together to a meeting.
2) The act or process of calling an assembly of persons to a meeting. "Assembling by summons".
Etymology: Late Middle English: From the assimilated form of com "with, together" (see con-) + vocare "to call".
We begin to gather from 7:30 pm, so if you're brand new feel free to hold off 'til 8 pm so things are in full swing when you arrive. A few of us will be wearing Conclave t-shirts ready to welcome you and introduce you to some new people.
